The awards, hosted by the Canadian Medical Association, honour outstanding Canadian journalism that enhances the public's understanding of health, the health system and the role of health professionals.

This marks the sixth year that Canada's doctors celebrate excellence in health care reporting. Once again, the stories that we honour are impressive examples of journalism at its very best.

Obviously, as doctors we connect with patients every day and every day we try to help make a positive difference in people's lives. This year, we are proud to honour the fact that Canada's journalists, editors, producers, photographers and other members of the media have the same goal in mind.

Boiled down to its essence, the work of the media is to reach out to people, to inform and to make a difference. We are pleased to be able to honour Canada's best at doing that in the field of health.

Each entry will be judged by a selection committee composed of professionals from across Canada representing the medical, health-sector and journalism fields.
